Respos Legal
Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Respos mobile application, the Respos website, and related backend services. Respos helps people in a household coordinate tasks, supplies, expenses, calendar events, reminders, and other shared household information.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- Email address, Firebase account identifier, authentication provider, and sign-in status.
- Your chosen display name and household membership.
- A magic-link email address may be stored briefly on your device while email sign-in is completed.
Household content
We store information you and other household members submit, including household names, member names, invite codes, tasks, supplies, notes, assignments, schedules, calendar events, expense descriptions and amounts, payer and split information, settlements, recurring expenses, shared personal tasks, and household activity history.
Notifications and device information
- Push-notification tokens and notification preferences.
- Device platform and information you voluntarily provide in a bug report, such as a device model and steps to reproduce an issue.
- Local preferences such as theme, onboarding completion, and notification or advertising consent state.
Camera and photo access
If you choose to scan a household invitation, Respos uses your camera or a photo you select to read a QR code. The app processes the image for that purpose; Respos does not upload the QR image to our servers.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes your payment information. RevenueCat provides us with purchase and entitlement information, such as your Respos account identifier, product identifier, subscription status, and expiration date. We do not receive your complete payment-card number.
Diagnostics, advertising, and similar technologies
- Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash reports, diagnostics, app state, device details, and technical identifiers when a release build encounters an error.
- Google AdMob serves ads to free-tier users and may process advertising identifiers, device information, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, ad interactions, and consent signals according to your choices and applicable law.
- On iOS, Respos asks for App Tracking Transparency permission before allowing tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. You can deny or later change that permission in device settings.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and authenticate accounts.
- Provide, synchronize, and secure household features.
- Display shared household information to authorized household members.
- Send requested reminders and household notifications.
- Provide and restore Premium access.
- Display and measure ads for free-tier users.
- Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, respond to feedback, and improve Respos.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Household sharing
Respos is a shared service. Members of the same household can access shared household content and may be able to see other members’ names and email addresses. Household members may also receive notifications about actions taken in the household. Do not add information that you do not want the other members of your household to see.
Private personal tasks are stored under your account. If you explicitly share a personal task, the selected household members can access it.
5. When we disclose information
We disclose information only as needed to operate Respos, including to:
| Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Other household members | Provide shared household features and notifications. |
| Google Firebase | Authentication, database hosting, Cloud Functions, push notifications, and crash reporting. |
| Google AdMob | Serve and measure ads for free-tier users. |
| RevenueCat | Manage purchase receipts, subscription status, and Premium entitlements. |
| Apple | Process App Store purchases and provide platform services. |
| Authorities or transaction participants | Comply with law, protect rights and safety, or complete a reorganization or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate safeguards. |
We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on applicable law, some processing by advertising partners may be considered “sharing” for targeted advertising. You can limit this through Respos consent choices, iOS tracking settings, and device advertising settings.
6. Legal bases for processing
Where a legal basis is required, we process information to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests such as securing and improving Respos, comply with legal obligations, and obtain consent for activities such as certain advertising or tracking. You may withdraw consent through the available app or device controls, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide, secure, and improve Respos or meet legal obligations. Some categories have shorter operational limits; for example, household history is limited to a fixed number of recent entries and settled expenses may be removed after a short period.
You can request account deletion from Respos Settings. Account deletion removes your Firebase account and user profile and removes you from your household. If you are the last household member, Respos also deletes the household and designated household subcollections.
Deletion is not an immediate erasure of every record. Information shared with a household may remain in household history, member records, reassigned items, or other members’ records. Feedback and records required for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcing agreements may also be retained. Backup or provider systems may retain data for a limited period before deletion. Contact us if you believe data linked to you remains and should be reviewed.
Deleting your Respos account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel the subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
8. Your choices and rights
- Edit your display name and notification preferences in Settings.
- Disable notifications or tracking through device settings.
- Use available advertising privacy controls when presented.
- Leave a household or delete your Respos account.
- Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information, subject to identity verification and applicable exceptions.
California residents may have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information and to opt out of certain sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. Respos will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
9. Children’s privacy
Respos is not directed to children under 13, and users must be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including authenticated access and household-based database rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Respos and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from those where you live.
11. Third-party services
Third-party services have their own privacy practices. You can review the policies of Google, RevenueCat, and Apple.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Respos changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
